DUNEDIN, This Day. A strong south-easterly wind was blowing at Wingatui this morning. but otherwise the conditions were good for training. Little fast work was done, most of it being on the tau and plougk track. Ortyx was going easily to xun three furlongs in 45 2-5secs. She ha's improved since racing at Ashburton last month, and despite her lOlbs. penalty promises to be hard to beat in the McLean Stakes. Our Pal was going better than Compensate at the end of three furlongs in 41 2-5secs. Dissemble travelled fast over the first three- furlongs of a five-furlong gallop in 1.10 4-5, but was easing up all the way down the straight. Last Link was going easily to finish on terms with Sunny Form at the end of six furlongs ln 1.32$. Brilliant Eod ran three furlongs on the wide grass traek in 36 2-osees. He was not under pressure over the final stages. A large number of horses were let off with from half pace to strong wor*.
