He was the iprosecution's star witness in the cace 'against the alleged racketeer, Maxx Silverman, who was chargod with extortion. The shooting occnrred while Silver- ! man, who under a bail of 250,000 dollars was on the way from New York ! by air from Los Angeles, where he was > arrested after evading the detectives j for two years.
