ERRATIC MARKETS
New Zealand Issues Stable LONDON • FLUCTjJATIONS (Eeceived 4, 10.25 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 3. The course of the markets throughout the week has been so irregular that the outlook has changed almost houriy. Gilt-edged issues are the only group showing real stability. New Zealand issues have been favoured owing to the satisfaetion caused by tho Budget. Industrial shares have been alternatively losing and gaining, but there have been few substantial ehanges on balance. Base-metal and rubber shares declined owing to a break in the commodities technical position. All markets are considered very souud. Whilc there hae been a certain amount of distress, selling has not reached large dimcnsions. • There has been some revival from the mid-wcek break in metals, which is believed to have involved a Dutch firm in diificulties, The outlook largely depends upOn the attitude of American consumers. Unless ■they come into the market, prices cannot advance and are even unlikely to be maintained at present levels.
