"Girls Expected to Become Intoxicated" TICKETS ON THEIR FROCKS
(By Telograpb-
WHANGAREI, This Day. In reference to drinking at dances, Mrs. Perryman, editor of Wliite Ribbon, speaking at the annual convention of the Northland W.O.T.U. related instances of young girls becoming so drunk that they could not remember where they lived. A Wellington taxi-driver, she said, had picked up two girls jn the street during the early hours one morning. Girls going to dances, she said, were often expected to become intoxicated be'fore the evening was out. She knew of cases in which girls attached tickets to their frocks in order that their acquaintances should know where to take them home. Girls were expected to be incapable of giving their own addresses.
