AUCKLAND, Last Nigiit. Adhering to tfieir previous ultitnatum that they would load no cargo for Japan wbicb might be used for war purposes, meinbers of the Aucalaud Waterside Workers' Union answerej the call for labour on tbe Japanese steamer Chifuku Maru on Saturilay moruing. No tallow or scrap iiou covered by the union' s ruling was ioaded but the rcniaining goods on the ship's lading were worked and the Chifuku Maru sailed for Wellinglon late on Saturday afternoon. It was decided by the union that no cargo which might be used for war purposes would be loa/led into tbe steamer at midday on Wednesduy, and when the diseliarge of the Japanese cargo was finished the men left tlie ship • and refused to load any cargo. Ihe ship lay idle while negotiations were in progress, and the decision to load any cargo on Saturday came as somewhat of a surprise. The bared items on the lading, scrap iron and tallow, comprised 300 tons of the Chifuku Maru's cargo, but obout 200. tons of tin clippings and other general cargo were loaded on Saturday.
