Mr. F. W. Doidge, of Auckland, left Auckland by the Awatea for Sydney on a skort visit to Australia. . Mr. E. L, Riddiford, of Wellington, with Mrs. Riddiford, and Miss R. Riddiford, arrived by the Monterey from America. Mr. J. Robinson, a well-known oflicef of the Customs Department at Auckland, has been transferred to New Plymouth as searcher-in-charge of the port. , Miss Ida N. I. Btovens' uarne was omitted from the successful candidates in grade V., pianoforte, in connection with the Royal Hchools of Music examinations. Mr. H. C. McQueen, formerly lecturer in education at Auckland University College, has left for Wellington to take up the position of research assistant to the New Zealand Council for Lklucational Research. Mr. B. Gordon Edvvards has resigned his position as divisional organiser for the National Party in the Auckland area to becorae organiser in ihe Bay of Plenty, Tauranga, Rotorua an Thames electorates. Mr. Edvvards will reside at Rotorua. Dr. W. H. Entwistle, a former student of Auckland (Juiversity College, returned to the Dominion ou Friday after seven years' study and research abroad. For tlie past i'our years Dr. Entwistle has been a locturer in education at Queeu's Uuiversity College, Belfast. Mr. T. C. Hewitt, a graduate of Utago University, vvlio has been engaged in mining engineering in Canada for the past eight years, arrived from San Franuiseo by tlie Monterey. Mr. Hewitt will spend about a fortnight in the Dominion, visiting his home at Morrinsville, and will tlien go to Melbourne, where he has been appointed field superinteudent to a large mining company. He is accompauied by Mrs. Hewitt.
