(British O^Bcial Wireleso-.)
Sir John Simon on Fascist Philosophy WEAKNESS OF DICTATORSHIPS
(Eeceived 4, 8.45 a.m.) EUGBY, Oct. 2. Tbe Chancellor of tbe Exchequer, Sir Jobn Siinont speaking at Peebles., oxpressed confidence in tbe good sense and resilience of tbe Britisb cbaracter and judgment. Tbey would sbow tbemselve3 a matcb for any new-fangled form of constitution elsewbere, be said. Let tbem not be misled by tbese appearances of great mecbanical solidarity. The metbods of totalitarian States migbt give an appeaTance of great solidarity, and no doubt it was very impressive to see millions of people marshalled like one man, but tbere was a weakness in the very nature and philosophy of tbe dietator State from wbicb Britisb people were free. "In tbis couutry," said Sir Jobn, "fiercely as we contend for our politieal faith still, wben tbe eleetion is over tbere is not one of us that will not accept loyally tbe decision of tbe majority. We would sooner see our opponents put in power tban see onr Constitution smasbed. ' '
