"QUALITY STREET" TO-NIGHT. Phoebe Tlirossel, quaint character of Sir James M. Barrie's "Quality Street," first brought to life by Maude Adains, has beea recreatcd by Katharine Hepburn in her ovrn iniinitable manner for tbe screen version of tlio play which screens to-nigbt at tbe State Theatrc. As co-star, Francbot Toue plays tbe role of Dr. Valeu* tine Brown. A ten-year xomance between tbe two is interrupted by tbe. dashing young doctor's enlistment to figbt against Napoleon. Tbe situations wbicb arise after Valentine's return form tbe base of tbe story. Tbey ara in turn quaint, bumorous, appealing and strikingly dramatic. Besides Katharine Hepburn and Francbot Tone, tba lilm also presents Fay Bainter, noted stage star, who portrays Susan Throssel, tbe "old xnaid" sislcr of Phoebe. Eric Blore, th0 funny butler of tbe Fred Astaire and Ginger Bogers musicals, is aeen as tbe bluff and bearty recruiting sergeant. Estei..^ Winwood and Helena Grant, stage favourites, have tbe roles of gossipy and carious neighbours, witb Cora Witherspoon, another well-known stage actress, as tbe peppery maid. Florence Lake, Bonita Granville and Joan Fontaine are also seen in prominent roles.
