From tip of antenna to tail, tlie specimen measurod oight inches. llefercnco to boolcs of autliority showed that only rarely did centipedes of this type — the largest in the Douiinion — exceed a lengtk of six inclies, and the largest specimon already in the museum was barely six inches in length and considerably smaller in other dimensions. The centipede was sent by Mr. H. T. Wood, of Whangarei, who explained in a letter that it was the largest he had seen. The particular typo is common in tlie northern portions of New Zealand and is found only aecidentally in the South Island. Tlie specimen will be added to the New Zealand section at the museum, where the curator, Mr. R. A. Falln, expects that it will create some interest.
