MR. LIONEL WALLIS

Mr Lionel Wallis, aged 80 years, passed away at Milford, Auckland, rocently. Arriving in New Zealand in 1875, tho late Mr Wallis spent a few years in the Hawke's Bay district, where he was a prominent member of the Hawke's Bay Agrieulturai and Pastoral Society, and took a great interest in having tho sheep pens ereeted in the old showgrounds at Hastings. He later took up land at Palmerston North, and was jmesident of the Mana-' watu Agrieulturai and Pastoral Association in 1895. Mr Wallis also served on various local bodies., He was later farming in botk the Waikato and North Auckjand districts, but on his retirexncnt he lived i'or a time at Tauranga, and later moved to Milford. Mr Wallis is survived by his wife, two sons and three daughters.
