MRS. JESSIE BROOKES

The death oocurred in Napier yeserday of Mrs JesSie Florence Brookes, wife of Mr E. S. Brookes, contractor for the Breakwater mole under the Napier Karbour Board's construction scheme. She was 58 years of ag}e. Born at Hollywood, near Belfast, Ireland, Mrs Brookes was the daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Joseph Watters, of VNewtonards, Ireland. Following the death of her father she came to New Zealand with her motlier about £6 years ago. With her husband, in whose contractihg undertakings she displayed- the keenest interest, Mrs Brookes resided for varying periods in many centres in the Dominion, and came to Napier from Tauranga. For the past three years she had been in ill-health. In- addition to her husband she is survived by two sisters — Mrs T. Ayres, of Waikino, and Mrs L. Hewitt, of Russell — and four brothers — Messrs J. Watters, of Napier; T. Watters, of Auckland, and F. Watters, of Whangarei. 'Tho sympathy of a large circle of friends will be extended to the relatives in their beheavement. The funeral will leave the late Mrs Brooke's residence, No 21 Battery road, at 2.30 o'clock on Sunday afternoon i'or the Park Island Cemetery.
