Sir,— We have given consideration to a letter appearing in your columns oi September 24, by "Havelock North," in which ydur correspondent- refere to the untidiness of his district occasioned by the paper dropped by cross-country runners. "• We appreciate our attention being drawn to this nuisance. It is now eight weeks since our club had a niu in the Havelock district and we. have satisfied ourselves that the culpability in thia instance does not lie with .this club. We feel that the Harrier Club'enjoya the eonfidence and respect of the residents of Hastings and surroimdijig distriets and every endeavour is made -to respect the- property, both civic and private, over which we take the liberty of running. In conclusion, may we thank ihe property-ownerB who facilitate the. harrier sport and mention that we will be only too pleased to consider any criticism or objections if same are forwarded to the secretary of the club. — Youre, etc.,
