HAIR-CUTTING PRICES
No Present Indication of Increase Rumours that a further increase in their prices is knpending were not uplield by hairdressers in the distriet questioned to-day. Although the effect of the increascd wagos and shorter hours has been to considerably increase their costs, they stated that there was no present indication of a further price rise, but that efforts were being made to flx the prices throughout the Dominion. "I attended a conference of the Hairdressers' and Tobacconists ' Association for the Wellington provincial distriet in Palmerston Nortb recently." said one liairdrcsser, ."and the question of a further increase in prices was not even discussed. Some time after I retu^ned I saw an article in a city newspaper which said "that, owing to increased costs, the price of hair-cutting would probably be increased in the near future, but the subjoct was not discussed at the conference. "We had the lists of prices in the various districts before us in connection with an attempt that is being made to fix the various prices at One level throughout New Zealand. I don't know yet if this will be done," he added.
