Ruakura as Focal Point NORTH ISLAND EXPERIMENT

HAMILTON, Sept. 27. A sfcatement that the Government 's experimental farm at Ruakura-WoUld be the focal point of all field investigations in the North Island and that laboratory and plot experiments would there be translated into praetieal farming methods was made by the Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. W. Lee Martin, in Hamilton to-day. Particular attention was to be paid to experiments with pigs from both a scientific and praetieal aspect, and in order tha't more time should be devoted to this investigational work it was intended to stop the breeding of pedigreo pigs, said the Minister. Pedi1 gree cattle, also, would probably have to give place to experimental and investigational work on a praetieal farm basis. " Mr. 'Lee Martin said that splendid progress was being made with investigational work relating to feed taint and ragwort cdhtfol. The chemical laboratory at Ruakura Was noW completed and was being used by the researeh officers investigating the feed taint problem.
