FIREMEN'S GUARD OF HONOUR AT NAPIER WEDDING
SYMONS— STOCK At St. John's Cathedral, Napier, on Alonday evening, the Very Rev. Dean Brocklehurst solemnised the marriage of Jean Eunice, elder daughter bf Mra N. Stock and the late Mr Stock, Napier, to Edward Earl, eldest son of Mrs E. Symons, and the late Mr Symons, Napier. The bridesinaids had decorated. tlje chancel very tastefully with arum lilies, golden dafiodils and freesias adorned the altar and the guests pews wero, marked with a posy of freesias and white ribbon bow. Mr W. Stewart, an old friend of both i'amilies, escorted the bride and gave her away. The attractive trained wedding gown was fashioned oi deep cream Regina satin and was very smartly cut to mould the figure. The bodice had a hich neckline at back with a small V in front. This was putlined with a plaited length of the niaterial which crossed over corsage m Grecian effect. Sleeves were long and tight-fitting( tiny buttons making a pretty iinish. The train was cut in with gown and was scalloped at the edge. Set on it was a large sjjray of lilies and ioliage made in sxlver lame. The bridal veil of embroidered tulle was arranged with a coronet of orange buds and fell in g^aceful folds as a second train. The bouquet carried was of roses, azaleas and freesias veiled in fern and finished with siiver streainers. Three maids were in attendance, the Misses Moira Beckett, cousin of the bride (cbief), Margaret Smith and Jean Lee. They were attired alike in long streainlined frocks of silk Vanessa in. a pretty tone of ciel blue. The bodices had a smali v neckline and siiver cord gave the Grecian effect forming belt and tasselled girdle after being crossed on corsage. The short sleeves Were prettily inset with a band to which thoy were gathered in pulf effect. The. skircs wero fully fiaied to the fcet. Each wore a halo of siiver leaves, siiver shoes and carried a bouquet of freesias. grape hyacinths and l'ern finished with siiver leaves and streamers. They also wore the bridegrooru's gift, a gdild bracelet The duties of best man were carried out by Mr Ron. Hughes and those of groomsmen by M'essrs lt. Martin and J. Rowe, JMr P.«^ \V. Tqmbs presided at the organ, rendering- appropriate bridal niusic. All bauquets were made by and the gift of Mrs Mardon, of Hastings. As the bridal pair came out of the churih fellow meilibers of the Napier Fire Board Brigade, where the bndegrjon is a motor-mau, sprang a surprise and i'onned a guard ot honour, under their superintendent, Mr W. J . Gilberd, and the couple passed under an archway of crossed axes. After the ceremony 90 guests went o.u tj the Bilver Slipper where Mrs Stock and Mrs Symons received them at 'the entrance to the eabaret. The usual toasts were honoured at the wedding supper and hapjiy speeches made. The tabies were prettily decorated with vases of Iceland poppies, olue giape hyacinths and maidenhair fern. Blue serviettes fashioned as watbr-lilies lield the glasses and the 'thrqe-deeker iced cake was much admireii." • Mrs Stockyvj&qtifaer, of the bride, received ih an ensembie ofvt&bac- satin backed wool georgette finely spo£tS'iv . The frock was finished with gilt buttons and the long coat was smartly cut;. Her beige ballibuntal hat was! trimm-d with oorded ribbon and.a teU floril spray. She carried a houquet of raiiunculus and anemones arrangied with fern and streamers to tone. Mrs Symons, mother of the groom,
wo-e a becoming ensemble of '.lack silu marocain. Her black siraw hat was relieved with a pink rose and she carried a bouquet of freesias and auemones finished with fine fern. The honeymoon is being spent in a month's motor tour of the South Island. Mrs Symons tra veiled in a smart frock of blue Rosemary crep'e smartly cut out at collar, sleeves and bum in square scallop effect. Her hat was ot the ssme material and with it she wore a heridsome fur coat, the gift of the bridegt oom. Skin shoes and bag cnmpletcd the ensemble. Among the relatives present were ; Mr and Mrs H.
