GOLFERS ENTERTAINED AT NAPIER PARTY

Tlie fragrance of spring flowers perfumed the drawing roorn, reception liall and billiard room of Mrs. G. Relly's Lorne in Thompson road, Napier, on Tuesday, when as chairman cf the New Zealand Ladies' Golf Union Executive she entertaincd members of the Austra hau and New Zealand Tasman Cup teams at a delightful five o'elock party. \rases of vivid lceland poppies and golden kowhai made a colourful decoration in the billiard room, where the most tempting souvenirs were set on the large billiard table. The liall was beautifully docoruted Avith bowls of xliododendrons, stocks, poppies and polyanthus, and in oue corner was a large jar of lovely white blossom. Tall vases of purpie iris and dhododendrons and bowls of stocks and sweet peas in pastel shades of mauve and piuk were most artistically arranged in the drawing room, while a huge cluster of 'dou'ble flowering peach blossom in deep pink tones was also mucli admired. ' From the windows the guests were able to see tlie lovely gardens and iawns bordered with spring bulbs, freesias and primulas. Mrs Kelly, who received hcr guests, wore an English model gown oi lieavy fawn lace over mushroom-pink. 'l'be heart-shaped neckline was fisiished with a Medici eollar and the long sleeves were banded at the wrist with royal blue silk vejvet matcliing her sash. iMrs. P. C. Holmes assisted her ruotlier and wore a Frencli model frock of black matelasse, the yoke and bouitant sleeves of black sdk net being embossed in royal blue. Mrs. Swinburn Kelly, who also assisted, wore a gown of black satin, efl'ectively trimmed with eruerald green.
