FIRM'S INITIATIVE

Mr. Gordon Christie's Visit To America Initiative is not confmed to the iirms in the larger centres, and perhaps one of the best examples of this comes from our own town of Hastings. Messrs A. Christio and Sons, Ltd., sent a junior member of their iirm^ Mr Gordon Christie, 12,000 miles to learn the latest methods of laying linoleum at the Linoleum Laying School, Lancaster, Pehnsylvania, conducted by the Armstrong Cork Company. Full of onthusiasm for what he had learn ed. and coniident that the trip had been well worth the expense involved, Mr Christie returned by the Aorangi on Sunday. Nor was this initiative lost on the American nrm, for this is what they said: "During the 13 years of its existence the school has trained men from as far distant as Canada, Alaska, and even England. But the record for long distanc-e students will be held for pome timo by Gordon Christiet of A. Christie and Sons, Ltd., of Hastings, New Zealand. The particular process taught by the school, and brought baclc to the JDominion by Mr Christie, is the installation of eustom-built linoleum floors. This is a new method by which unique furnishing treatments are obtained and a priee given for the finished" job. All work is done by an expert. Xiinoleum laid in this way, for example, was installed in the main building of tho State of Florida exhibit at the Great Lakes Exposition, and though '2,000.000 pairs of feet walkod over this floor "last year it is just as attraetive now as then. T-hi$ home is to be furnished in the latest style and will be a demonstration of how colours in carpets and curtains and furnishing generally can be made to Wend. It will be opened for three inonths as Christie 's Exhibition Home. " .
