60 Per Cent. Decline at Shanghai (Eeeeived 28, 8.40 a,m,) SHANGHAI, September 27. The foreiga trade of Shanghai de* clined 60 per cent in August, compared with July, and jt is exppcted that the September figures will show a decline of 90 per cent. This is duo to the Japanese occupation of Hongkew, which is the commereiai area, tho Chinese barricades of the ¥angtse, which have cut olf tlie inland trade, and the Chinese ineasures to protect currency.
