DANCE TO HONOUR FUTURE BRIDE AT WAIPUKURAU
Mr and Mrs W. Clark, Porangahau road, Waipukurau, entertained a number of friends at a jolly dance on Friday evening in lionour of the approaching marriage of their daughter, Phyllis, to Mr Erio Stiles. The dance was held in the Masonio Hall, which was attractively decorated for the festive occasion. The ceiling was completely screened with cherry and deep blue streamers. Easy chairs and sofas Were arranged on the stage for non-dancers, and in the background were lo\y tables with bowls filled with spring bulbs and japonica. Along the front of the stage *were trails of pink camelias and native fern. Gordon Redward's orchestra played popular dance music, and extras were played by Messrs G. Winlove and K. McKenzie. In the supper-room the long tables were decorated with crystal bowls of spring bulbs and iceland poppies. Oue end of the room was ■ screened olf and here fruit cup and sherry were served during the evening. Mrs . Clark being indisposed, the guests were received by Mr Clark, who was assisted by the guest of honour and her tiance (Mr Stiles). Miss Clark was smartly gowned in. a black velvet skirt, worn with an evening tunic in parchment satin flowered in blue. Mrs Clark, who was seated in the dance room, was wearing a model gown in black chilfon flowered in red carnations and mauve sweetpeas, with a brown fur wrap. Among the invited guests were: — Mrs 1. W. N. Mackie, prune chilfon velvet, with a wide gold belt and an art necklace of hand-made flowers. Mr& E. B. Todd, deep blue ninon mounted over silver lame. Mrs W B. Fisher, black chilfon, the low-cut corsage tinished with a round diaiuante buckle. , Mrs J. M. Coutts (Takapau), white stilfened talfeta, striped in gpld, having a wide gold belt and a cluster of silver flowers on neckline. Mrs S. Peterkins, tunic blouse of black net, hand-painted, in peacock blue, pink and silver, with a black cire satin skirt. Mrs G. W. Winlove, floral chilfon in shades of Cliinese blue, having a deep shoulder cape closely shirred. Mrs V. Bradley, black ninon flowered with clusters of cherry and green roses, with a deep blue velvet belt. Mrs Daly, black talfeta coin-spotted in gold with a folded corsage. Mrs C. Hartland. parma violet georgette, embroidered in gold, worn with a gold lame coatee. Mrs J. A. MeLean, slimly-fashioned frock in black cloque with a corsage posy of natural flowers. Mrs H. Stcvell, trained gown in black ring velvet, having long sleeves and gold metal buttons at the back of the corsage. Mrs P. A. G. Dunn, black ninon with waterfall frills at back of skirt. Mrs H. Martin, scarlet figured velvet, the draped corsage linished with a natural posy. Mrs A. L. McCormick, black chilfon velvet, having diainante elasp at each side of the square-cut neckline. Mrs I). Eadie, black gieorgette inset with black lace and black and white fur coatee. Mrs H. Peacock, black suede crepe having a long sash lined with white satin and a cluster of white roses on front neckline. Mrs H. E. Coats, pale blue matelasse, the swathed belt linished with a square buckle of brilliants and a silver spray. Mrs D. Cairns, pale blue lace, having a matching coatee and sash of pale blue talfeta. Mrs J . Kendall, princess frock in pearl grey satin, having narrow frills on the hemline edged with purple satin. Mrs S. Train, deep crearn cotelle striped in pale pink, the neckline linished with pointed lapels. Mrs R. Turnbull, heavy black lace, relieved with a corsage spray of scarlet flowers. Miss B. Mitchell, black georgette and lace, having a diamante buckle at waistline. Miss Hazel Moorhead. pale green sheer georgette, flowered with clusters of pink flowers. Miss Mary Buchanan, long ecru lace tunic, with a skirt of ocean blue suede crepe. Miss Sheila McLaucklan, parchment • satin, worn with a long shoulder spray of hand-made mauve and cream orchids. Miss Molly Polhili white crepe-de-chene closely flowered in Chinese blue and red, having full sleeves of plain blue. Miss Alma Adams, cream and pink floral chilfon, with narrow frills on skirt. Miss Jacqueiine Ormond, pale blue aud silver brocaded lame, having a sash of silver lame. Miss M. Sharpiu, tunic frock in violet crepe, having a narrow turned down eollar of giuld lame. Miss Tiuy Wilder, black chantilly lace, saslied in floral taii'eta. Miss V. Bair, sky blue talfeta, pabterned with clusters of multi-coloured flowers and having short pulfed sleeves. Miss Joan Hartland, pale blue and silver lame, with a high draped front neckline. Miss Peggy Hartland, spring green cloque frock iashioned with draped sleeves. Miss Jill Williains iGisborne), flame cotelle, fashioned in tunic ett'eet. ^liss Judy Soimuerville, pale cream and bronze flowered chilfon, the full sleeves closely shirred. Miss Val Ross, trained gown in ocean green chenille georgette having wide shoulder strap and sash of deep wine velvet. Miss Eilaine Ross, pastel green eblffon, with narrow frills on the full skirt and a pale pink corsage spray. Miss Margaret Atkins, white, blue and scarlet flowered crepe-de-chine, with a big blue rose on neckline. Miss Francis Atkins, pale green matelasse with a pale pink shoulder spray. Miss L. Lovell-Smith. floral muslin with narrow frills on .the skirt and finishing the neckline and long sash of pink-ended ribbon. Miss Joyce Neilson, black chilfon velvet, havingi a gold butterfly bow and cluster of violets on the neckline. Miss Betty Bryce, gold metal lace over green satin and a big bow at the back in moss green velvet. Miss D. Jones, midnight blue lace having flared sleeves and a corsagie spray of scarlet velvet flowers. Miss Carrie Murray, white organdie sprigged in saxe blue closely shirred, around the hip, and a wide belt in saxe blue. Miss Mary Wall, sunset pink and bronze striped taffeta cuf diagonally, the square neckline edged with georgette, Miss Shirley Clay, black stiffened taffeta, having a very full skirt and vestee in flesh pink taffeta. Miss J ean Speedy, marina green and silver flecked cotelle, the shoulder strap of rust velvet coming over the shouiders and tied in a long sash, the made silver and rust flowers. Miss J. lledward, figured frock in shades of blue, worn with a black velvet cape. Miss Eileen Hobson, cream silk pique, flowered in blue and pink, worn with a matching coatee.
