In Ihe Magistrate's Oourt at Waipukurau to-day Misa Dorothy Lyle Smith, South Makaretu, was fined 15s and costs 12s for failure to license a radio set. As a sequel to an accident which happened on ihe night of September 1, yrhen the ear he wa* driving hit the engine of a goods trains, Leslie Brnest Smith, la-bourer, pleaded guilty te a chhrge of attempting to drive over a railway line when the crossing was not clear. Aceused was - fined £1 10s and costs 10s. For failure to pay maintenance arrears £2 7s fid, Eon-ald JosOph Mitchell was senteneed to 14 days' gaol, to be released on payment of the arrears. Failure to keep a propor register of the dangerouB ' drugs purchased, received, produced, manufactured, sold or otherwise dealt in at his pharmacy eost Leslie Robert Grant, a Waipukurau ohemist, £2 ls when he appeared before Mr J. M. Miller, S;M., in an actidn brought by the Health Inspector. It wai explained in the def ence that the actfused had kept a' record of his dangerous drugs txahsaction,- but the book- he had used did not conf orm with the Dangerous Drugs and Amfcndment Regtllation of 1934. Allowing that something had been done, though in the Wrong manner, the magistrate imposeda 10s fine with Costs 10s and solicitor's fcei £1 ls.
