Little-Known Thermal Area

ROTORUA, Last Night. An unusual, interesting and littleknown. thermal ( aroa in the Rotorua district will be opened up and exploited for the first time os a resuit of a deeision by the Public "Works Department to spend a sum of money in iinproving the access road to OrakeiKorako from Ataimuri. An announcement to this effect was made by the Minister of Public Works, the* Hon. R. Semple, yesterday. The area comprises wliite silicated terraces, the largest in the world, and rivalling those of Rotomahana, which were destroyed when Tarawera mountain erupted in 1886, geysers, boiling pools, and a fern-embowered cave known as Alum Cave. It will also open up new stretches of virgin fishing waters where the - Waikato rjver flows through, the OrakeiJ&erako Vallqjr,
