STRIKERS EVICTED

Brisbane Brewery Workers (Received 25, 10.40 a.m.) BRISBANE, Sept. 24. Under cover of darkness^ 120 police, led by the Chief Commissioner, Mr C. Carroll, and several officers, succeeded in evicting the stay-in strikers from Castlemain and Perkins' brewery. Taken unawar63, the majority beiug fast asleep, the men left the premises without trouble. They were immediately accommodated in three nearby cottagea, where a marquee is being erected today i'or their convenience while the strike lasts. The brewery will be pioketed in the meantime. The brewery property has not been hanned. The employers state that the men'a jobs are still open under the original conditions, but they will not tolerate a 40-hour week or increased wages, as demanded.
