NAPIER LITERARY TOWNSWOMEN MEET
Despite the cold blustery day there was a good attendance of members at the meeting of the Literary and Dramatic section of the Napier Townswomen ?8 Guild held in the Nurses' Club rooms on Thursday. Mrs O'Halloran, section leader, was in the chair and extended a welcomo to Mrs. Dunn, who was one of the first leaders In this section. The room looked charming with bowls of freesias and spring blossom. The winning stories in the recent short story competition were read by members. A clever competition of Napier streets was won by Mrs. Bagley. This was followed by a well-contcstcd debate, "Is women 's viewpoint esscntial to the well-being of national lifef" Mrs West led for the affirmative and Mrs. Bagley the negative, supporting speakers being Mesdames Moore, Maney, Boyd and O'Halloran. Mrs. W. L. Dunn acted as judge and her summing up was most interesting and helpfnl. Highest points were given to the negative leader, A vote of thanks to Mrs. Dunn brought to a close a Very pleasant meeting.
