GIFT PARTIES FOR AN OCTOBER BRIDE
On Monday evening the Baptist School ' Hall was the scene of a very jolly kitchen tea given by Miss Jessie Gigg and her mother, Mrs W, Gigg, in honour of Miss Uha Shakespeare whose marriage to Mr Norman Grylls, of Wellington, takes place early next mcpith). Mr N. Hudson acted as M.O., and the evetning haurs were happily passed wifh a delightful programme of musical games and competiitions. Miss Jessie Gigg wore a pink cloque fr.ock trimmed with silver lame fiowers and a silver belt and Mrs W. Gigg wore a model frock . in brown, with orange fiowers at the neckline. The guest of honour looked very attractive in a frock 0f shrimp pink embossed oloque, finished with large lame buttons. Mr® W. Shakespeare wore a Coronation bliie frock, patterned in cherry and beigO. - During the evening the bride-to-bo was presented with numerous parcels, which,.. when unwrapped, disclosed many qseful. arfcicles for the kitchen. .Miss Shakespeare made a very happy little speech of thanks to Mrs and Miss Gigg for such a pleasant evening and tothose i>resent for their gifts. A delicious supper was served and a suceessful evening was concluded with the singing of "For They are Jolly Good Fellows" and "Auld Lang Syne." Miss Jean Graham was also a hostess at a very happy evening at her home in Mayfair Aveniie, given in honour of Miss Epa Shakespeare, andi during the evening interesting; qompefiitions and commuuity singing were enjoyed. After a delicious supper had been served the guest of honour was called upon to opau her numerous parcels which ccntained many useful gifts for which Miss Shakespeare thanked everyone. Those present were.— Mrs Graham, Miss Jean Grahsan, Miss Ena Shakespeare, , Mrs Shakespeare, Mrs Gruzelier and Mrs Shakespeare (jnr.), Misseg Hughes (2), Moynihan, Menzies, Wharton, Lynch, Lincoln, Struthfers, Graham, North, Black, Emmerson, Barcliam, Gigg, Dayis, Renoaf, Stewart, The -Hastings Baptist Ghoir spent a very happy time on Friday niglyb at an informal supper party given ih honour of Miss' Ena Shakespeare. Mr J, Bewley, on behalf of the choir presented Miss Shakespeare. with a very hahdsome silver teapot, as a mark of the love and esteem ip. which she is held hy all the members. Mr Lascelles and Miss M. Sowersby also spoke of the loyalty of Miss Shakespeare.^ The guest of honour very suitably respouded.
