(By Telegraph-
CHEISTCHUECH, This Day. Theodore Foster and Charles Frederick Brown, relief workers, who pleaded guilty to obtaining money from the Empioyment Department by false pretences, were each sentenced to six months1' imprisonmnt this morning. "Frauds against relief funds are so serious and so widespread that firm action is nCcessary," said Mr. Justice Northcroft. Counsel for Brown referred to the accused 's war record. "Before you proceed," said His Honour, "can you tell me why a good war record should weigh in mitigation! One would think that a mafi wbo proved himself a good eitizen in times of war should be even better in times of peace. War service- is no mitigation of 'cn-ni'c. ' '
