SINGING GROUP OF B.M.S. HOLD MEETING

An interesting evening was enjoyed by the singing group" of the British Music Society last Monday at the home of Mrs Corrigan, Pepper street, Hastings. The subject for the evening was tho American school of classical music Avitli the inclusion of a history of American music. Articles concerning these were read by Miss Williains with the addition of sliort biographical sketches of several composers. An extra article on the rausic and lifo of MacDowell, America's greatest composer, was also read. Tho following members gave voca! numbers in illustration : — Trio, "To a Wild ltoso" (MacDowell), Miss Williams, Mrs Greer and Mrs Corrigan ; solos, (a) "Tlie Swan Bent Low to the Lily," (b) "A Maid Sings Light" (both by MacDowell), Miss Dclcie Williams; solo,* "Will o' the Wisp" (Spross), Miss Joyce Symonds; quartette, "The Two Clocks" (James Rogers), Miss Williams, Mrs Greer, Mrs Corrigan and Miss Ford ; solo, "Dawn" (Pearl Curran), Miss Phyllis Boshier ; solo, "The Oity of Rachael"
