Talk By Instrumental Group of B.M.S. The instrumental group of the Hastings brancb of the Britisb Musio Society met on Tuesday evening at tbe liouse of Mrs. C. G. Wilkinson, Knight street, Hastings. Tbere was an excellent attendance,' and an interestlng evening centred round tbe work of modern composers. Murical items were mterspersed with readings on methods of practice by Misses H. Ford, McLeod, Barnet, and W. Vogtberr, a sketch of Sir Edward Elgar, by Miss Clayton, and some interesting reminiscences of Frank Hutehens, by Mrs. Blair and Miss Clayton, wbo bave both known kim at diiferent periods of bis life. l'ianoforte items were given as follows: — Miss N. Cuming, Monkey House (J. B. MeEwen), and In Dim-lit Woods (Eric (Tliiman); Miss N. Craw-fc-rd, The Holy Boy (John Ireland); Miss I.
