WELLINGTON, This Day. A warning that persous who wilfully shot native pigeons — birds that are protected by law — will bg prosecuted, was given by the Ministex of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry, to-day. The Minister 6aid the reports that had come to him showefi that native or wild pigeons were being shot la considerable numbers in parts of* both. islands. He. characterised tho offenders as persons entircly devoid of any principle or any love for New Zealand s native birds. Mr Parry said he was hopeful that the stiffening of the vigilance of office ra of the several departmenis acting would have an eifect. He felt that no leniency would be shown by the courts towards offenders.
