INFLUX OF ALIENS

Italians in Australia (Received 23, 8.45 a.m.) SYDNEY, Sept. 22. The Congress of the Returned Soldiers* League, which is at present sitting in Sydney, to-day resolved to urge the Federal Government to check the influx of Southern Europeans into Australia. Delegates expressed strong objection to the flow of Italians into the rural areas, where it was emphasised, it was impossible to compete with them. One delegate remarked that in the event of war with Italy it would require half Australia 's man-power to guard the Italian internment camps.
