Large Yarding at Stortford Yesterday MARKET STEADY The largest offering of store cattle for many months was made at Stortford Lodge yesterday, when over 2200 head were penned. The market was steady, with all good welF-bred lines meeting with a good inquiry. Values wero slightly easier than late rates, but most of the offering was traded at very satisfactory values. Many well-bred station lines of steers and young bullocks were offered, and the female entries included heifers and breeding cows with calves at foot. Bullocks, in fat and forward order, made £10 10/-. Well-bred three-year steers brought £9 17/6. Most of the two-year steers were scavengers off high country and brought £7 15/-. Most of the yearlings offered lacked size and sold to £6 6/-. Cows with calves at foot brought £7 16/- and two-year heifers ' to £5 16/-. Outside interests were active and they assisted in keeping the market buoyant. Realisations were made as under: — Down from Wairoa and off hill eountry, 67 two-year-Aberdeen Angus-Here-ford cross steers, medium grown and in quite gpod store condition, being useful line for scavanging sold at £8 1/-. On account of Mr A. Kent, Wairoa, and grazed at Kaiwaka, 99 fairly grown Aberdeen Angus-Hereford cross yearling heifers bred in the Gisborne district, being in healthy order were passed at £3 18/6. On aocount of Waitio Ltd., 65 clean bred medium grown Hereford steers in healthy order and showing good coat-s were sold at £6 16/-. Down off tlie Puketapu hills, 59 fairly grown dehorned Hereford three-year steers in very good store order, having been well wintered and should finish off readily as quality beqf sold at £9 17/6. On account or Mr A. Kent, 28 medium grown Aberdeen Angus cross two-year-old heifers in useful order sold at £5 16/-. Down off the higiH coUntry at Kereru 51 clean bred two-year Aberdeen AngUs steers in rather low condition but woiild quickly freshen up brought £7 15/-. . On account of" Koponga Station 50 dehorned Hereford cows in medium order with an equal number of sturdy calves at foot brought £7 16/-. On account of the estate _ of Mr Haliburton, of Kotemaori, a line of dehorned Hereford cows heavy in calf, realised £7. Down from Kereru and off high country 73 two-year clean bred Aberdeen Angus steers being a good lot of scavengers were passed at £7 15/-. _ *On account of Koponga Station, Havelock North, 40 Aberdeen and Hereford bullocks. fairly grown and in
good store order sold at £10. On account of Mr G. O. Smitli, Bay View, 36 well bred small grown yearling Aberdeen Angus steers in liardy order and showing good coats, were passed at £5 7/6. Off the Puketapu hills 61 well framed Aberdeen Angus cx*oss bullocks in fat and forward condition, roalised £10 10/-. Off the Tangoio hills 46 yearling Aberdeen Angus cross steers, medium grown steers in good store condition and showing good coats sold at £6 6/-. On account of Mr A. Kent, 70 guedium gjrown two-year dehorned Hereford heifers in quite good order sold at £5 12/6. On account of Mr H. W. Yuoren, Rissington, an entry of mixed bred medium girown three-year steers realised £9.
