New Zealand Produce In ' England BACON UNSATISFACTORY Some candid, as well as enlightening comment ou New Zealand produce, particularly butter and bacon, in tlie Old Country is contained in a letter received by Mr. IT. W. Groonie, of "Fernhill, from his brotlier, a grocer, in Hastings, Liiglaud. Apparently tlie butter is quite satisfactory, but the same does not apply to bacon. "We do a good trade iti your butter, und it's good, but your bacon is rotteu," he writes, and heavily underlines the word "rotten." Referring again to the bacon, he writes: "We only tried oue lot. It's too flabby and the fat is a bad colour. Nq, the Danes und Poles take some beating. " An eelio of the visit of tlie Minister of Marketing, the Hou. Waltci^Nash, te the Old Ooiiutry, is contained in the next [Uiiagrapli of tlie letter, wliieh reacls; "We are trying to get a hetter price for your butter, as vpe understand your Government has been dust-ing-up over the price. "We are paving at present for Lake brand about 26/- a cwt. and retail it at 1/3 a lh, " adds ihe letter. "How dees that conq'iire? ' '
