STORE SHEEP VALUES
Large Yarding Forward at Hastings WETHER HOGGETS AT 33/6 Late high values attracted a large yarding of store sheep at the Stortford Lodge sale to-day, when over 6000 were penned. A partieularly keen inquiry was evident from the outset, aud the market remained fairly firm with keen competition. Hoggets predominated in the yarding «.nd most of the lines offered came forward in good order, liaving wintered well. The record price for the season was made when an • exceptional line ot well-bred wether hoggets, offered on account of Mr T. Guthrie, of Clive, and which were easily the best seen in the yards for a long time, made the remarkable figure of 33/6. Several lines of ewe hoggets, unshorn as lambs, were offered, making to 34/9. Ewes with lambs at foot were more plentiful, making 20/4, all eounted. An activo market continued throughout the selling which showed a bright tone. Realisations were made as under: — On account of "Patoka" Station, 188 medium grown woolly well-bred Romney ewe hoggets, in good hardy order and should develop well, sold at 32/6. Down from Maraekakaho, 60 well- - grown woolly Romney ewe Hoggets^ in good condition, having been well .done and hardy, sold at 34/1. On account of Mr C. Anderson, Mangateretere, 30 sound-inouthed ewes, with 30 forward lambs, by Southdown rams, at foot, sold at 20/-, all eounted. On account of Patoka Station, 214 medium-grown woolly Romney wether hoggets, being in healthy order and should come out of the wool in good condition, brought 27/-. A line of 66 fairly well-mouthed ewes, with 67 lambs at footf a few oi which were forward, sold at 18/9, all eounted. An entry of 68 qiiite well-mouthed ewes, with 72. late lambs at foot, realised *20/4, all eounted. • A line of 217 medium-grown Romney wether hoggets, in good store order and healthy, were passed at 27/9. On account of Mr T. Guthrie, Clive, 242 extra well-grown woolly Romney wether hoggets, in exceptional order, brought 33/6. These hoggets were partieularly well wintered and should be in excellent condition off the shears, making a splendid line of two-tooths. A line of medium-grown 'Romney ewe hoggets, unshorn as lambs and rather inixed in the wool, were passed at 34/9. A medium-grown entry of 62 Romney wether hoggets in good store condition sold at 28/9. An entry of 115 medium-grown South-down-cross hoggets, in forward order, having been well wintered, brought 2S/2. The following entry of snialler-grown similar-bred hoggets, in good order, brought 25/-. In off the Puketapu hills, a line of small-grown woolly Romney . wether lioggets in quite good store order brought 24/10.
