REGENT THEATRE

"SWEET ALOES" TO-NIGHT. "Sweet Aloes," a dynamic 'drama revealing the huinan emotions of love passion, hate and eacriflce, screens at the Regent Theatre to-night with Kay Francis in the stellar role. The picture, a Cosmopolitan production xeleased by Warner Bros., fs based on the smashing stage hit, "Sweet Aloes," by Jay Mailory. The plot of the play is ultramodern and startlingly daring, and although frank in treatment, is handled with the utmost good tasto. George Brent has the role of the American husband of Miss Francis, and gives a sterling performance, as also do Roland Young as the play wright, and Patric Knowies as the nobleman involved in the romance. Frie.da Inescort has created a remarkable character in the nobleman 's wife^ who adopts the other woman's child a:s her own. She brings to her portrayal great charm and intelligence. Henry Stephenson is excellent in the role of the Englisk lord and grandfather of the child he plans to make his heir, as also is Halliwell Hobhes, . father of Miss Francis, who dies as she is about to tell him of her difficulties. Helen Flint gives a fine performance as an American doetor, with whom the playwright falls in^ love. The first half of the programme has been carefully arranged, and includes the March oi? Time series and the Springboks v. Hawke's Bay match.
