Improvements Effected at Coriiwall Park NEW PAVILI0N Excellent progress is being made with the various developmental works being carried out by the Hastings Borough Council in the prineipal reserveg in the borough. The work was viewed by quite a number of citizens yesterday, espeeially the improvements being effected at Cornwall Park. At this reserve there was n large , crowd of people yesterday afternoon enjoying a stroll xound the beautiful grounds. On all sides oue heard favourable comment regarding tlie enhancement of the reserve that has been effected as result Q±' the xemoval of the hedges. Along the Koberts street alignment rhododendrons and various. types of flowering and other decorative shrubs have been planted, and there can be no doubt that when these are firmly established and the lawns properly laid out this portion of the park will be most picturesque, ■ Along the Tomoana side of the park the ereetion of a smidl concrete fence and the toning of the entrance way in keeping with the immediate surroundings, has brought about a big improvement as has also the splaying-baek oi the northorn entrance from Tomoana road. There still remains one portion 0f the hedge to be removed to complete the programme. Oricketers and those interested in sports played at CornwaU Park were espeeially interested in the new pavilion that is being constructed on the western side of the sports ground. This work is progressing rapidly and should be completed in time for the .coming season, to provide most welcome facilities and conveniencos. The main work at present being carried out at Windsor Park is the extension of the swimming pool. _ This in being doublod in size, and while it wilj not be of any great benefit to children there can be no question but what ut will be popular with " adults, espeeially .visiting campers, during the height of the summer months. The nsi of the stream by children is to bo encouraged this year at Windsor Park and additional facilities for boating are to be provided. The levelling process at the Civic Square continues to provide a big gang of men with plenty of work. It has been necessary to carry out considerable lexcavation work in this Tesetve and replaqe the surface with fresh, cJean soil. Already a marked_ improvement is to be noted in the vieinity of th© Cenotaph and the. Women 's Resl along the Eussell street frontage.
