The monthly meeting of the Norsewood Women 's Division of the Farmers' Union was held at the residence of the president, Mrs J. Edgley. FiuaJ arrangements for the birthday social and dance, to be held in the institute hall, were made, and the programme was drawn up. It was decidod to help the Young Farmers' Club with its birtliday dahce in October. Miss Christiansen was the winner of an interesting competition. It was decided to liold a "hook day" at the next meeting when books and magazines will be brougbt. The gext meeting will be held at the residence of Mxs F, • Bishop, Norsewood, Cbess Matches. Championsbip matches playcd at the Waipukurau Chess Club resulted in Holms defeating G, C. JStapIeton and WHson defeating Little. In the club games, Neild and Fowler drew, Walker beat G. C. Stapleton, Neild beat Wiggins, Little beat Qarpenter, Wilson beat .Wiggins and Carpenter beat Fowler.
