• 't-' — i- — f » m Late Mr. W, H. M^y, of Takapau A military funeral for the late Mr W. H. May was held on Friday afternoon. interment being made at the Takapau Cemetery. Tho funeral was a large one. The cortege left the Presbyteria,n Church". The pall bearers were sol» dier-comrades of the late Mr May, Mossrs M. Tiffin, M. Gavin, H. H, Oldershaw, N. M. Paulsen, F. de Stacpoole, M. J. MeKennie and H. C. Tennent. A large contingent of returned soldiers paraded with Major McDonnell in command, and also a detachment of Mounted Rifles under the command of Captain Selby. The funeral services' were conducted at the Church, and afterwards at the graveside, by the Rev. H. S. IScott, M.A. Tlie liring party of the Mounted Rifles iired the three volleys and the "Last Post" was sounded by Mr C. N. M. Tilley.
