Marist Go Under By One. Point Marist, although they ha.ve won the ,1937 Hrstings-Napier chamnio.nship^ were shaded hy Napier H.S." in the Lane Cup game at Napier on Saturday. The champions- led by seven points, at the interval, but the business-lilce play of the opposing side left little doubt at the end of the match that the better side had won. The first half was a briglit display, there being plenty of passing rushes by both sides, with Marist liaving the better of tlie game territorially. A good field goal by Bcnson, and a try by .Armstrong gave them a lead of seven points at thc interval. In 'the second spell the Old Boys' forwards turned the tide, their spoiling tactics keeping the Marist backs at bay. Mclvinnon scored a try, converted by Hutchinson, and later Hutchinson kicked a penalty to give -his side victory by one point. Mr W. Foivest refereed.
