NEW CROQUET CLUB
Hastings Central Oflicers The foundation of the Hastings Ce»tral Croquet Oub has been made poasible by the courtesy of the Hastinga Bowling Club which has granted a portion of its green for croquet, At the inaugural meeting held at ihe pavilion the followiiig officers and committee were elected: Patroness, IMra T. J. Thompson ; president, Mrs W. Bridgman; vice-president, Mrs G. S. Lowe; honorary secretary, Mrs W , Duff ; hon- . orary treasurer, Mrs J. B. Pickering; captain, Mrs I. Crichton; vice-captain, Mrs Rose; committee, Mesdames F. King and C. Gardner. Tliese mernbers have organised special efforts by ivay of card evening to raise funds for the purcliasing of equipment necessary for two lawns. Much interest is being centred round the new club, which is situated at the corner of Railway and Lyndon roads and its niembership is steadily growing. In a few weeks the greens should h# read.v for the opening and a most enjoyable season is assured.
