OTANE, Last Night. The Otane branch of the^ Returned Soldiers' Association held it-s annual danoe in the Town Hall last nigjit. Weather conditions were decidedly unpleasant and this no doubt deterred many from being present, although under the circumstances the attendance was quite good. Japonica, fiowering Japanese cherry, plum and currant were effectively used in an attractive deoorative. scheme and bowls of these fiowers were on the stage, where the orchestra was accomodated. The M.O.", Mr J. -MacDougall had arranged a comprehensive progamme^ of popular dances and the captivating musio played by Mr Les. Henry's orchestra, combined with a good floor, made dancing more , than a pleasure, and a very pleasant and happy time was spent by those present. Much appreciated extras were oontributed by Mrs McHardy. A delicious supper of sweets and «ar vouries was served by the R.S.A. members assisted by Mesdames McBougall and Voyce. Among those present were: — Mrs MacDougall, wearing & becoming frock of bottle-green panne velvet with primrose shoulder spray; Mrs Voyce, dainty frock of floral crepe and black net frilling; Mrs j. Collins, attractive Lido-blue lace frock over geOrgette ; Mrs Arnott, burgundy lace and crepe frock; Mrs Bartlett, deep red flat crepe ; Mrs Griffin, jade-g^een crepe de chine ; Mrs Anderton, black georgette and crimaon spray ; Mrs R. Mudgway, petal pink bark crepe; Mrs McHardy, misty blue net over satin ; Mrs Harbottle, black lace and georgette; Mrs Carter, blue lace with satin ruched hemline; Miss K. Ashby, blue floral georgette cherry spray and sasb. Miss M. Ashby, wailis-blue silk taffetas; Miss A. Collins, pink embossed cloque tartan taffetas over blouse ; Miss Black, blue floral georgette and satin hemline; Miss Jane, shell-pink satin crepe ; Miss M. Black, linden-green souple satin; Miss Oolquhoun. delphi- ( nium blue satin; Miss Bartlett, coral pink lace and crepe frills ; Miss J. Spargo, orchid pink sand crepe; Miss N Dillon, shrimp pink needlerun lace ; Miss A. Griffin, pink and brown floral georgette and satin frilled hemline ; Miss M. Pettman, deep pink taffetas; Miss J. Minto, shell-pink crepe de chine; Miss D. Steven, cornflower-blue floral silk voile; Miss Martin, crimson chiffon velvet; Miss Lovat. midnightblue matalasse: Miss Stowe, .mulberry taffetas basqued frock ; Miss Hansen, black velvet and berry red spray and sash.
