CRICKET IN HAWKE'S BAY
--—i # A - Annual Meeting of the Association SEAS0N STARTS LABOUR DAY , Cricket in Hawke's Bay made a formal start for the season on Monday evening, when the annual meeting of the Hawke's Bay Cricket Association was held in Napier, a fair nuoiber of Hastings and Napier delegates being present. Matches will probably commence on Labour Day, when it is hoped that a Manawatu team will visit Hawke's Bay. The election of offifficers resulted as follows: Patron, Mr T. H. Lowry; president, Mr . B. Lusk; vice-presidents, Messrs A. E. Bowman, L. Brenton-Rule, J I. Cato, R. M. Chadwick, J. Dick, W. T. Foster, J. R. Ross, F. C. Clark, J. J. O'Brien, C. Louisson, L. St,ephenson, and F. R. Watters; delegate. to New Zealand Cricket Council, Dr. P. S. Foster; hon, auditor, Mr C. Temperton; hon. record-keeper, Mr F. F. Cane; management committee, "Messrs R. M. Chadwick (chairman), C. W. Beuth, J. D," Bowland, V. T. Rouse, V. N. Hawkfe, H. H, Wylie, B. J. Mahony, A. Fenton,/W. J. Ireland, J. J. O'Brien, D. R, Pirie, F. G. Watty; hon. secretarv and trea* surer, Mr E. Elliott. The meeting decided that letters of thanks be sent to Messrs Henry Fulton and Dayid J. Martin for the gifts of cups to the association, and that the decision regarding the use of the trophies be left to the management committee. At the meeting following of the management committee, it was decided - to send a letter of thanks to Mr A. Mahoney, of the Hastings Sub-associatioE, congratulating him on his selection aS captain ' of the New Zealand hockey team. A Labour Day week-end match is to be arranged if possible with Manawatu, and in addition home-and-hoine matches with the Hastings Sub-Asso-ciation.
