Employment On Government Buildings MINISTER'S SCHEME

WELLINGTON, Last Night. It is expected that many une-mployed pa'inters throughout New Zealand will be given work as the result of gy seheme auuouncod this evening by the acting-Miiiister of Labour, tbe Hon. P. C. Webb. Tlie men will be engaged in painting Government buildings whicb aro in need of attention. Tlie Government has been giving eonsideration to the question of unemployed paiuters, the Minister said, and has deeided to appeal to tbe Government Departments to proceed with a 'coniprehensive scbomo of painting Government buildings. It was the desire of Ihe* Government to give work to every unemployed painter who is physically flt. A number of works had already been set in hand, and he hoped within the next few days that he would be able to state tbat a considerable number of- unemployed paiuters liail been engaged iu the very necessary work of repainting Government buildings.
