QUIET WEDDING IN HASTINGS ON SATURDAY

THOM — AITCHIS0N The wedding was quietly solemnised at St. AndrewJs Presbyterian Church on Saturday afternoon of Irene Rose, second daugkter of Mr and Mrs W. Aitchison, Nelson street, Hastings, and Mr Colin Thom, of " Glenmore, 5 ' Weber. The Rev. D. J. A, Shaw officiated at the ceremony and Miss A. Lock presided at the organ. During the ceremony Miss I, Sutherland sang a solo. ' The churcli was decorated with large jardinieres of magnolias and smaller bowls of apple and peachi blossom. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a very smartly tailored redingote of navy blue satin haeked wool gcorgette with pleated baek aud front. Oystcr satin trimmed the corsage in front and she wore a double rope of pearls. Her navy blue hat was trimmed witb oyster taffeta ribbon and she wore navy suede shoes and oyster sliaded gloves. Her posy was composed of rosebuds, carnations and sweet peas in apricot shades with maidenhair fern Mrs Harold Axbey, the bride' s sister, was matron of honour. Her frock was of navy blue matelasse witli corsage trinuned in front with Cellophane braiding, the sleeves being very wide and the skirt cut in gores. A white taffeta roll collar was finished with aTabot in front. Slie wore a hat of pineapple straw with transparent brim in front and carried a posy of palest pink and deep pink carnations and sweet peas with ferns. The bridegroom was attended by Mr VY. Aitciiison, the bride's brother. Eollowing the ceremony relatives and closest friends were received by Mr and Mrs V7. Aitchison, the bride's daughter, Mrs Roy Sherwood, of Hastings. Here a marquee was set ou the lkwn and the long tables were decqrated with spring bulbs and pink blossom. I11 the centre of the bridal table stood tlie wedding cake, iced in a deep oyster shade. The toast to the bride and bridegroom was proposed by the Rev. D. J. A. Shaw. Mrs Aitchison, the bride's mother, wore an ensemble of blacls Iieavy satin crope with white latticed trimming, and a pleated frill of white water-marked talleta edging tlie coat. Slie wore a bluck hat and carried a posy of violets. Mrs Roy Sherwood wore a frock of white matelasse patterned with red and lido blue flowers, and a plain iido blue coat buttoned down the front and having sleeves full at the shoulders. She woro a blue hat and sliouider spray of creain roses. Miss Edith Aitchison, also a sistef of the bride, wore a frock of brown wflol crepo de cheno with gored skirt and sleeves pleated at the shoulders. The collar of. palest pink moire talfeta ended in an unevon jabot on the left side cauglit with a diamoiid clasp, and the wide belt was lined with palest pink. She wore a brown iox fiir and brown velour hat. Mrs A. Aitchison, of WelJington. an aunt of the bride, wore a black and white ensemble with floral georgette frock and Iieavy wool crepe de cliene coat. She wore a black hat, ermine fur and carried a violet posy. The bride, who was well lcnown at the Eversley Private Hospital, Hastings, will receive the best wishes of her many friends for much future happiness.
