The New Zealanders experlenced a day of remarkablo cricket on a pitch helping the bowlers. The weather was dull. Ireland collapsed before bowling fuli of zest after Uarson and Boberts put the home team on the defensive by the quick capture of two wickets each. Gallichan and Moloney Vith accurate spin bowling finished the ( innings in under two hours. New Zealand were out in an hour by spin bow-ling and devastatiug fast to mcdium off-breaks by Boucher whose analysis read 12 overs, 5 maidens, 13 runs, 7 wickcts. Ireland 's second innings was a piocessiori of players. Cowie, who was called on for the first time in the match, bowled flat out. He took three wickets with four balls and another with the first ball of the next over. At one time he had taken six wickets for one run. In New Zealand's second innings Lowry and Moloney batted steadily and gave the tourists an easy win. The wiclcet assisted the bowlers as was shown by the extraordinary proportion of batsmen clean bowled. A return match will be piayed on Tuesday. Ireland in their first innings made 79 (Lambert not out 25). Moloney took three for 26, Gallichan three for 27, Carson two for five, Boberts two for eight. New Zealand in the first innings made 64 (top scorers Wallace 20, Weir 11). Ireland 's second innings produced 30 of which ten were extras. Cowie took six for threo, Boberts nouo for three, Carson two for 10 and Gallichan one for four. In their second innings New Zealand scored the necessary 46 runs for the loss j of two wickets (Lowry, not out, 30). New Zealand won by eight wickets.
