Decision to Purchase Quarry Site The monthly meeting of the Hawke's Present: Mr. F. B. Logan (chairmiah), Bay County Coimcil was held ' to-day. and Councillors C. Lassen, W. Tueker, W. Turner, M. S. Chambers, E. , H. Beamish, G. C. Smith and S. M. Palmer, S. Bennett. Leave of absence was granted Crs.; R Harding and N. P. Eriksen on account of illness. | It was deeided to make a grant of £5 towards the funds of the Haumoana Beach Improvement Society. It was deeided that st'ei>s bo taken , to acquire a metal quarry site, consisting of half an aero, on Mr. J. S. Dunn's property, Patoka^ v Cr. Turner explained that the quarry was a good one, and was necessaiy for metal purposes. The N.Z. Eivo Million Club wrotc asking for co-operation and a subscription to their funds. — It was deeided to reply stating that tho council had not any funds for this purpose. The chairman added that he expected legislation. would be passcd for local bodies to contiibute to such purposes. Mr ,P. Drummond, Puketapu, wrote asking what the council intended-lo do to remcdy flooding near his property Cr Turner explained that it was proposed to put in a culvert during the f.oming season so as to make the road passable in time of a small flood. This work would • not prevcnt flooding on Mr Drummpnd's. property. The C.rown Lauds Otflco suggested that tlie railiugs round the gruves in the Puketitiri cemetery should be renewed. — sThe engineer is to furnish an estimate of the cost of the work. From the same oiiiee a request was agreed'to conc'erning the legalisin'g the road ' adjoining tho " Puketiriri -Domaiii. The Public Works Department wrote agreeing to the metalling and -sealing of an additional 36 cliains ou the Waio-liiki-Pakowliai highway. It was agreed to make a 'grant cqual to tho amount of the rates to the Te Mata Trust Board. Criticisms by tlie Department of Health regarding adniinistration of health matters in the county was referred to the council 's inspector for a report.
