Adjustment Commlsslon. Ihe Hawke's Bay Rural Adjustment Commission consisting of Messrs Greenwood, Graingjer and White, is nolding a sitting in the Waipukurau Courthouse. A considerable amount ot business has to be done by the Commission in Waipukurau, and it will sit there for about one week each month for some time. Ongaonga Catholio BalL The parishioners of St. Francis's Church Ongaonga, held their annual ball in the public haJl. There was a ©ood attendance. Musio for dancing was played by Les. Henry and his orohestra. Extras were played by Miss Petersen and Messrs Rasmussen and Crump, The floor was in splendid condition and the hall had been tastefully decorated by the ladies' committee, The streamers of green and gold harmonised well with the spring liowera and blossoms. The proceeds of the ball will be devoted to paiisli funds. Dannevirke High School Cranf. Cabi'net has agreed tp a grant for additional aceommodation at the Dannevirke High School according to advice received in Dannevirke. Ihe Board recently applied for a grant for a new' science laboratory, a teachers' room, girls' cloak room, two ad- ^ ditional class rooms, and library room. Ormondville School Affairs. At a meeting of the Ormondville School Committee, Mr H. J, Newling presided over a full attendance. Mr P. Smalley headmaster, repoiiied the school roll as numbering 55. It was decided to allow the children a holiday on Wednesday for the Springbok-H.B. football match. A report was received that the , railway- department had reduced the children's fares and a special carriage will be reserved for Ormondville and district children. Both Mr_ Smalley and Miss Campbell, the a&sistant teacher, will accompany the ohildren. The committee expressed its appreciation and thanks to both teachers for their kindness in volunteering to take charge of the children. Very beneficial sunshine was experienced yesterday throughout Central Hawke's Bay, following upon a fixjsty morning and it is noticeable that the pastures generally are presenting ample evidence of stimulated growth, the foundation for which was well laid during the recent soaking rainfall. Although a light chilly wind from the direction of the snow-capped Ruahine Rnnge has been somewhat oonspicuous^ the conditions have been generally satisfactory.
