STATE THEATRE

"border cafe" and " winds ag the sailor."

A coloui'ful romantic triangle between a headstrong young New Englander, his former fiancee, and a Mexican girl whom he meets in a frontier ^^cantina,', forms the love interest of "Border Cafe," RKO Radio's new lilm drama with Harry Carey and John Beal sharing the top roles and Armida, the /alluring Mexican dancer, in the feminine lead which screens at the State Theatre for the last time to-night. In '"Take My Tip,'' which screens at the State Theatre to-morrow, we have Jack Hulbert and Cicily Courtneidge, the screen's craziest comedy star, teamed again in a riot of nutty situations, witty dialogue, tuneful numbers and smart settings. England's greatest laugh manufacturer is in turn a Britisli peer, an oil well magnate, the world's worst golfer and Callavini, tlie head vvaiter in Ms former butler's hotel. What a marvellous set-up for the inimitable Jack. Aa Lord and Lady Pilkington, Jack and Cicily are very fond of each other, but their individual extravagances lead to frequent quarrels. Then George, whilst taking a Turkish bath, is ]>ersuaded by a shady financier named Buchan to purchase a nonexistent oil well, for £15,000 which we discover is the entire fortune of the Pilkingtons. Buchan, of course, disappears, and the couple are left to face a somewhat dismal future. However, a .former butler in thea'r houseliold namedi Paradine turns up, proves to be the owner of a palatial hotel in Dalmatia, and offers them botli positions there. They are obliged to accept, and Hattie — who . was formerly a musical cemedy actress— indulges her former talents and becomes a wealthy coffee heiress, hostess at thc hotel, and George performs the job of an ingratiating head waiter— arid. then the fun commences.
