Another Increase Noted

Another increase in tho'consuniption of water in Hastings was noted in the monllily report of tho Borough Engineer, Mr, C. E. Evans, submitted to tho couucii last evening, aud this iucreaso was noted despite the fact that tlie rainfall for tho period was greater tlian that oi: the same month last year. Mr. Evans said that last month 36.935,000 gallons of wuter were pu-mp-ed, as against 33,323,000 gallons in August of last yoar. Thc rainfall for the two period s was 2.23 inches and 1.17 inches respectively. Last month six sewer and five water connections were laid on to the borough scrviees, bringing tlie total water connections up to 3539 for tho borough. The Havelock North Town Board punvped 107,000 gallons of water ^ in exeess of the township's own requirements.
