Kereru Meeting

Tlie September meeting of the Kereru Women 's Institute was held on Friday last in the distriet hall. There was a fairly good attendance of members and two visitors, Mrs S. Bennet and Mrs lt. Faynter. Mrs G. J. Baker was the guest of honour. The prcsidentj Mrs L. R. Avcrill, introdueed the visitors and the meeting opened with the Institute Song followed by tlie usual business. Tlie interesting roll -call, "Best article from a month 's newspaper reading," was then auswered. Mrs Baker gave a very interesting and helpful talk on the round-table conference recently held in Wellington. This was followed by a cnost instructive talk on miniature gardens. A very hearty vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs Averill and carried with acclamation. The visitors judged the competitions and the following are the results: Best petticoat to cost not more than 5/-, Mrs L. R. Averill I, Mrs W. A. Whyte 2, Mrs P. Walker 3. Best bloom, Miss Elmers 1, Mrs L. R. Averill 2, Mrs W. Johnston 3. I
