Selection Methods To Be Reconsidered

"WELLINGTON, Last Night. Concern at the methods adopted for the selection of New Zealand athletes to compete at the Britisb Empire Games, was expressed at a meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association to-night and notiee was given to move at the next meeting, that the whole matter be reopened. It was stated that the methods adopted in the xecommendation of a committee, meant that athletes would be selected on current form. The committee did not consider interfering with the usual date of the national meeting in March as this was always regarded as the climax of the season. The following list of athletes was submitted by the selectors, Messrs J. K. Moloney (Canterbury) and A. C. The secretary said the gate takings were not nearly as good as expected and in addition there were the expenses of an interpreter to be met, while a tbirrl factor was the illness of Togami in the south.
