."GRIDIRON FIiASH1 ' AN1 "LADDIE." The amazing adventures of a young crook who went to a small-time college to rob, but remained to play football and fall in love with the coach's niece, are told in RKO-Radio 's thrilling comedy-drama "Gridiron Flash," which screens at the Municipal Theatre tonight. Eddie Quillan and Betty Furnese are featured, with a supporting cast including Grant Mitchell, Lucien Littleiield, Edgar Kennedy and Grady Sutton. The story is said to touch all keys on the comedy and dramatic seales and strikc high suspense in the climax, when tho hero plays the championship game wliile his pockets are filled with jewels stolen by him from the safo of a rieh patron. "Laddie," the eecoud feature, highlights one of the sweetest and at tho same time dramatic romances in all fiction. The Gene Stratton-Porter novel, which comes to scrcen as a realistie picturo from RlvO-Radio, makers of "Littlo Women," eentrcs attention upon Laddie_ played by John Beal, and his love for an aristoeratie Englishbom belle, played by Glorla Stuart. Laddie is a son of a farmer, but eollcge bred, makes up liis mind to take up agriculture. That brings him into eouflict with the caste demande of a noble English neighbour whose daughter he loves. Interwoven is a sub-plot, the "mystery" in the nobleman's family, and also diverting comedy. Romairce and drama pace hand in hand, to a glorious eliniax, with all the punch of a powerful narrativc.
